My dad went to China in 1972. It was a very unusual thing to do as the country wasn’t particularly open to foreigners at the time. He was studying architecture at KTH in Stokcholm and 19 of the students went on a tour of china together for four whole weeks. They visited several places in China and the hosts made an effort to show them the best of the country. They went to Beijing, Wuhan, Guangzhou and several other places. They were shown cities and the countryside, buildings, schools and factories and even got to sit and watch a surgery in hospital. This last thing I have always found most baffling of all, but the whole trip is a very unique thing. I have been scanning my dads photos and am in awe by how cinematographic several of the china photos are.
